Hazon Yeshaya sponsors regular group Bar and Bat Mitzvah celebrations in Jerusalem. These children, who are orphans or who come from abusive or dysfunctional homes, have no other opportunity to mark this important milestone in their lives. The children participate in a prayer ceremony at the Kotel (Western Wall), enjoy a tour of Jerusalem and later attend a festive meal with friends and family.  Each child receives personal gifts donated in honor of this special event.  We sponsor about 800 kids every year.

Taking on the responsibility to help others

Mazel tov. They've probably told you - becoming Bar or Bat Mitzvah is about taking on responsibility. At Hazon Yeshaya Soup Kitchens, we have taken on the responsibility to feed more than 14,000 people (mainly hungry children) each and every day of the year. 

Have you thought about helping those less fortunate as part of a tzedakah (charity) project to mark your entry into adulthood?

At Hazon Yeshaya, we offer:

• A chance to choose a project to support. By choosing the Bar/Bat Mitzvah celebrations, you'll be making a difference in the lives of children who would otherwise not get the opportunity to celebrate this most important passage into adulthood.
• Hazon Yeshaya cards you can add to your thank-you notes, so your guests will know what good you've done with their gifts. And who knows, maybe others will learn from you and choose to join in and help the kids - all thanks to you.
• An invitation to come and visit us for a few hours and see our work up close. We guarantee it will be an unforgettable experience for you and your family.
